About

Welcome.   Here you’ll find my galleries, and assorted art-related info.

I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, and whenever I got the chance.  When I was a kid,  the 64 color box of Crayola crayons (with the built-in sharpener!) was the ultimate luxury.   So, in grade school I always got A’s in art. The high school I attended had one of the most comprehensive art programs in the region at that time, and I was exposed to all kinds of techniques & mediums.

◊ No, I didn’t go to art school. What for? ◊

I did paint in acrylics for a brief period, but always came back to pencil and paper, pastel and watercolor. And with the addition of ink, found the technique I’ve been using for more than 20 years.

My technique is called ‘stippling’, because I use ink.  It’s related to pointillism, which uses tiny dots of paint.  So, instead of drawing with lines, I use tiny ink dots. (I will use lines on occasion, but all of the shading is done in dots)

I start each piece with a pencil sketch, then I ink it. The next step is adding color using a combination of soft pastels and watercolor. I layer the colors, and ink in the shading afterward.

It seems to give each drawing an aspect of light, almost like stained-glass, which is the effect I’m trying to capture.

So, take a look around…click on my pages..and tell me what you think.

Enjoy!
